Companion Animal Vet
Susie is from Leicestershire in the Midlands of the UK. She studied at Edinburgh university from 1998-2002 where she graduated with an Animal Science Degree (Bsc Hons). In 2002 she started at Glasgow University to do her veterinary Degree (BVMS) and graduated in 2006. Her first job was back home in Leicestershire for Cockburn Veterinary Group. During her 3 years here she was involved with production animals, equine and was the vet assistant for the companion animal department. Susie had some memorable moments at Cockburn’s including a trip to the hospital as a result of a cow kick and she even got her 15 minutes of fame when she was involved in an RSPCA welfare case that was televised by the BBC!
After a 6 month locum position at Park veterinary Group in Leicestershire she came to the Sunny north of NZ in 2010 for a 6 month “holiday” to spend time with her sister and niece in Whangarei. Susie started work for the Northland Veterinary Group in October 2010 to cover maternity leave for one of our companion animal vets but ended up staying with us, working in 2 of our clinics, Onerahi, and at Maunu Rd.
Susie enjoys the variety of work we do here, and the unpredictable nature of it keeps her on her toes! Outside of work, home decorating and gardening on their lifestyle block keeps her busy, as well as her German Short-Haired pointer Heidi, and ginger cat Simba.
Susie and Lauren, her daughter, live locally.
